Tell us about your role at the Synod of Lincoln Trails.

I joined the staff at the Synod of Lincoln Trails in November 2018.  I was looking for additional income as I was building Christlike Life Ministries, the ministry I founded in 2018 to help believers connect the dots of their faith so they can live a Christlike life intentionally, wisely, and enjoyably. When I visited the Charitable Advisors job page and saw a part-time Program Assistant opportunity at the Synod, I was so excited because it offered the flexibility I needed and allowed me to continue building the Kingdom of God.

I serve as the Program Manager now. In this role, I manage the administrative tasks of the office and the programs we offer. Some of these tasks include submitting invoices and deposits to our bookkeeper, sending communications to program participants, and coming alongside Sara Dingman to plan programs (including researching hotels, catering, etc.).

One of my spiritual gifts is administration, so I enjoy organizing and planning.  I especially enjoy working with and getting to know synod staff and its members.

You’re an author!  What’s your book about?

Yes, I am! I wrote a six-week devotional on the fruit of the Spirit which was released on Amazon on June 15, 2022.  It’s called “Refueling Your Faith: Daily Encouragement for a Spirit-Filled Life.”

As I come alongside believers in their growth, I want to give them simplistic ways to understand understand the goal of their lives: to represent God well in the world. God gave me Galatians 5:22-23, the passage on the fruit of the Spirit. The devotional provides a practical and personal definition of the fruit.  Each week, you explore one or two fruit.  I highlight a Scripture passage, provide a personal commentary/exploration on the passage, and then end with a prayer.  The devotional also provides daily opportunities for reflection.

I am so proud of myself for accomplishing this goal and I am receiving such affirming feedback!

What do you like to do outside of work and church?

I enjoy trying new things — small things and big/costly things.  For example, I just tried a new coffee drink from one of my favorite coffee shops, MOTW in Indianapolis: a maple spice latte!  I also went to Nigeria for the first time in July of this year on a mission trip.  Experiencing new things brings me so much joy and I intentionally try to schedule something new every week.

What are your plans for Christmas this year?

This year, my husband and I will host Christmas Eve dinner for my family.  We did it last year and really enjoyed it.  My husband enjoys barbequing and I enjoy coming up with games for the family to play and win prizes.
